Fashion tour de force Alexa Chung teams up once more with high street super giant Marks & Spencer for Winter Archive By Alexa, a capsule collection that reimagines the brand’s heritage.
Marks & Spencer has ploughed a lot of money and effort into rebranding their image from grandma’s go to store into this generation’s new favourite. They’ve enlisted the likes of supermodel David Gandy to shift their briefs and style icon Alexa Chung to design a collection earlier this year, Archive By Alexa. Now, Chung returns to the high street giant with Winter Archive By Alexa, a 27-piece capsule collection inspired by the archives of the brand.
Speaking of the collection, the sometime designer says: “For this second collection, I wanted to focus on a more luxe evening wear vibe to lead us into the winter party season and was thrilled to once again discover an abundance of inspiration within the Marks & Spencer archive.” Chung is praised with reworking heritage pieces into contemporary style staples and reviving the archive into a covetable treasure trove of party wear.
Talking to Vogue about the collaboration, the model and muse enthused: “I think there is such love for M&S within Britain. It really is an institution and one that has clothed us all at some point in our lives. So first and foremost, I think there was a desire for it to do well, for people to be proud of this high street shop they have long held a soft spot for.”
M&S will certainly be hoping to make a repeat of Chung previous collection, which was well-received, and attract the same attention as the tan suede skirt that she wore last year and caused to sell out. With the success of Chung’s numerous previous collaborations, such as AG Jenas and Madewell, we have no doubt that the Winter Archive will be another notch of her ever so chic belt.
Winter Archive By Alexa is available on November 1st in stores across the nation and online.
