In a London-based studio, dancers mimic the expressive forms of war monuments of the former Yugoslavia. Devised and shot by Jovana Mladenovic, her medium format camera captures an eerie dynamism between static forms and moving bodies, touching on fashion, dance, photography and history to bring lesser known histories to light.
Contemporary Balkan Art presents this work as part of “Interruption,“ amassing forty works by seventeen contemporary Balkan artists. Jovana will be speaking about her work as part of the event “Artist in Conversation” by CoBA, on 25th of April.
Interruption opened April 6th, at Library, St Martin’s Lane, and runs until 11th May 2017.Studio Shoot Credits
